MISTLETOE (ORCHARDS) WANTED! I am looking for orchards with plentiful mistletoe to experiment with long-term sustainable mistletoe harvesting.

Welcome to the Mistletoe Pages
European Mistletoe Viscum album

This website provides an introduction to mistletoes - not just the species we kiss under at Christmas - but also the many other species worldwide.

The familiar mistletoe of northern Europe (pictured left) is a rather mysterious plant parasite, with a complex folklore, and, perhaps, serious potential in medicine.

And it is just one of many hundreds of other mistletoes worldwide.  The American Christmas mistletoe, a different species to the European Mistletoe, is pictured below left
American Mistletoe Phoradendron flavescens

The site aims to provide some background on all aspects of mistletoes - their biology, traditions, use in medicine etc.  It does not claim to be a technical site - but provides links to some that are, and I'll try to answer any questions sent to me (email contact below).

The site is written from a UK viewpoint - and there is inevitably less detail when non-European species are covered.
